RSPCA Victoria is a non-government, community-based charity that works to prevent cruelty to animals by promoting their care and protection.

We aim to provide up-to-date news, information, and resources to educate the community about animal welfare and we work with governments and industries to improve animal welfare standards in Victoria.

Journalists, media outlets, and ambassadors play an important role in assisting raising awareness about animal welfare concerns and sharing opportunities to improve the outcomes of the thousands of animals in our lives.

RSPCA Victoria is the only non-government organisation authorised to enforce the law in Victoria and investigates instances of animal cruelty and neglect across the state.

We can provide expert commentary on animal welfare topics in Victoria including images and file footage, as well as information on Inspectorate operations including seizures, surrenders, and prosecutions.

Please send any media enquiries to media@rspcavic.org.au or call (03) 9224 2299

Student Journalists

We receive a lot of enquiries from students requesting interviews with our experts or filming at our shelters. We appreciate the interest in RSPCA Victoria’s work, and wherever possible will do our best to assist.

If you would like to interview an RSPCA expert or film at our shelters, please ensure you provide at least two weeks’ notice and send all requests from your school/university email to media@rspcavic.org.au.

Unfortunately, there are occasions we are unable to support student requests and we cannot guarantee we will be able to assist every student enquiry.
